“How can you be healthy if you have polluted air and polluted water?”

As a cancer survivor and founder of the Cancer Schmancer Movement, Fran Drescher has dedicated her life to preventing cancer through early prevention and educating the public about their exposure to toxic chemicals in foods, cosmetics, and household products.

Fran’s organization has helped thousands of women and men, giving them the tools to make healthier choices in their daily lives, but as she says, “How can you be healthy if you have polluted air and polluted water?” The fact is you can only protect yourself from so much if the water you drink and air you breathe is poisoning you.

That’s why Fran Drescher and the Cancer Schmancer Movement have signed onto a letter that Heinz Award-winning biologist and fellow cancer survivor, Sandra Steingraber wrote, asking Governor Cuomo not to allow fracking in New York. This dangerous new method of drilling for natural gas, injects millions of gallons of water laced with cancer-causing chemicals into the ground.  It also produces huge quantities of radioactive waste that enters our environment, and fills the air with cancer-causing fumes. In places where gas drilling has taken over, it has created widespread contamination and sharp increases in cancer rates.

In short, fracking presents an enormous public health threat, and advocates like Fran know this is a health risk that we can’t ignore.

If you care about your health and the health of your family, you can't afford not to take action on fracking. Last week the Environmental Protection Agency said fracking for natural gas contaminated the groundwater of families living in Pavilion, WY. New York could be next.

Sign here and tell Governor Cuomo, please don’t frack with New York.
